Advantage of Double Wall Corrugated Pipe
- Strong resistance to external pressure: the outer layer has a ring-shaped corrugated structure, which greatly enhances the ring stiffness of the pipe, thereby enhancing the resistance of the pipe to soil loads. In this performance, double-wall corrugated pipe has obvious advantages compared with other pipes.
- Low cost: under the same ring stiffness requirements, double-wall corrugated pipes only need thinner pipe walls to meet the requirements. Therefore, compared with solid-wall pipes in same material and specifications, it can save about half of the raw materials, so the cost of double-wall corrugated pipes is also lower.
- Convenient construction: as the double-wall corrugated pipe is light in weight, it is easy to transport and connect, so the construction is quick and the maintenance is simple.
- The friction coefficient is small and the flow rate is large. The double-wall corrugated pipe made of HDPE material has good low temperature resistance and impact resistance.
- Good chemical stability: The double-wall corrugated pipe is made of plastic materials, such as HDPE, PP, PVC. These plastic materials have good chemical stability.
- Long service life: The service life of the double-wall corrugated pipe can reach more than 50 years under normal use.
- Excellent wear resistance: tests have proved that the wear resistance of double wall corrugated pipe is even several times higher than that of steel pipe.
- Appropriate degree of deflection: certain length of double-wall corrugated pipe can be slightly deflected when aligned, and will not be affected by a certain degree of uneven ground sedimentation. It can be directly laid in a slightly non-straight groove without pipe fittings.

Double Wall Corrugated Pipe Manufacturing Process Flow Chart
- Process 1: Plastic granules and other additives weighed proportionally, and then loaded to mixer. After mixing material will be transported into single screw extruder.
- Process 2: There are two extuders, one is for inner layer and the other is for outer layer. Raw materials will be heated, melted, further mixed and plasticized inside screw and barrel of extruder. Plasticized melt will be pushed by screw and move into the flow channel of die head.
- Process 3: The die head is also with heating function. Heated melt will flow through flow channel inside die head. Outer layer and inner layer come out from die head. Calibration sleeve is installed at end of die head. During production, calibration sleeve will insert into corrugator. Inner layer touches with calibration sleeve to form inner layer of the pipe.
- Process 4: Corrugated mould is installed inside corrugator. Outer layer from the die head will touches the corrugated mould. Vacuum is created between outer layer and corrugated mould. Then outer layer wave shape is formed and cooled by the corrugated mould. spigot (for big size) and socket are also formed by the corrugated mould in the corrugator. Corrugator also provide pulling force to move pipe to cooling tank.
- Process 5: For corrugated pipe machine, cooling tank provide auxiliary cooling and traction. It will make pipe move smoothly into cutter.
Units of Double Wall Corrugated Pipe Extrusion Line
Single Screw Extruder
Adopt L/D ratio 38:1 screw for virgin material. Adopt L/D 33:1 screw for recycled material. We also have choice of twin screw and barrel for other material such PVC powder, PP powder, etc. Provide suitable extruder for different customer requirements.
Die Head and Calibration Sleeve
Both outer layer and inner layer are extruded inside die head. Each material flow channel inside die head is placed evenly. Each channel is after heat treatment and mirror polishing to ensure material flow smoothly. Also die head provides compressed air between both layer.
Corrugator and Corrugated Mould
Corrugator is used to place and move corrugated mould. Vacuum is created to absorb outer layer into corrugated mould to form corrugate shape. By moving corrugated mould, pipe is also pulled out from corrugator.
Cooling tank is used to cool pipe further.
Cutter controlled by Siemens PLC, double knife cutter. Equipped with precise inspection device ensures the cutter accurately placing at the correct position of double wall corrugated pipe. Whole cutting process is accurate and fully automatic.
To support and unload pipes. Length of stacker can be customized.

According to your workshop drawing, we will arrange extrusion machine based on the original transformer position. Or if you do not have transformer yet, we will recommend suitable transformer position.
Water Tank Position
Water tank is necessary to provide continuous cooling water to the extrusion machine. We will consider the water tank location to make water circulation smoothly between machine and water tank.
Usually, we recommend to locate air compressor away from the extrusion machine because of the big noise created by the air compressor during its working. We will allocate the good position of air compressor according to your workshop drawing.
Trench is located beside the extrusion machinery. It has conduit pipe, air pipe , water supply pipe and water drainage pipe inside. You can also choose not to have trench.
