The RTP (thermoplastic reinforced pipe)/TCP (thermoplastic composite pipe) is mainly used as high pressure and non-metallic pieps use for oil and gas industries. However, it can also be used for water supply and district heating.
By changing the inner layer material, the RTP/TCP pipe can working under different temperature and circumstance. Also, by changing number of reinforced machine and reinforced material, RTP/TCP will have different working pressure.

Advantage of RTP/TCP Pipe

  • Compared with steel pipe, RTP/TCP pipe has lower cost under same pressure level.
  • RTP/TCP pipe is flexible and can coiled in roll, which means long length to reduce installation and transportation cost compared with steel pipe.
  • Small flow resistance, good wear resistance and corrosion resistance compared with steel pipe.
  • RTP/TCP pipe can work under very high pressure which pure plastic pipes can not.
  • Under same pressure level, RTP/TCP pipe has lower cost compared with PO pipes.
  • By changing the plastic material and reinforced material, RTP/TCP pipe will have different pressure level and can work in different conditions.

Single Screw Extruder

Usually, there are two extruders: one for liner layer, one for coverage layer. Based on pipe structures, we will choose different quantities of extruders (for example, additional extruders for glue layer). According to different material, we will choose different screw and barrel.

Liner Layer Die Head

This die head is used to extrude liner layer. It can be in single layer or multilayer according to the pipe structure. Also, its flow channel may change according to different material.

Vacuum Tank

Vacuum tank is used to shape and cool liner layer to form core pipe. We use double-chamber structure. First chamber is in short length, to ensure very strong cooling and vacuum function. As calibrator is placed in the front of first chamber and pipe shape is formed mainly by calibrator, this design can ensure quick and better forming and cooling of the core pipe.

Haul-off Unit

Haul-off unit provides sufficient traction force to pull pipe stably. When forming core pipe, need to have one haul-off unit. After wrapping the reinforced layer and covering the outer layer to form RTP/TCP pipe, need to have another haul-off unit. Two haul-off units should have same speed.

UD Tape Wrapping Machine

This machine is used to wrapping UD tapes on the liner core pipe. Usually, adopt double-numbered winding machines to ensure that the tapes are cross-distributed. The UD tapes can be in different materials such as fiberglass tape, aramid tape, carbon fiber tape, basalt tape, etc. According to different types of UD tapes and different pipe pressure requirements, number of UD tape wrapping machine will change.

Coverage Layer Die Head

This die head is used to extrude coverage layer. It can be in single layer or multilayer according to the pipe structure. Also, its flow channel may change according to different material. Special design which will make coverage layer attach more tightly on the reinforcement layer.

Cooling Tank

Cooling tank will cool the coverage layer to form whole RTP pipe.


Cutter controlled by Siemens PLC, working together with haul off unit to have precise cutting. Customer can set the length of pipe they want to cut. Multi-feed-in actions for the accomplishment of one cutting process (protect blades and saws, prevent from blade and saws stuck for thick pipe and cut face of pipe is smooth).


According to different types of UD tape used for RTP/TCP pipe, we will customize our coiler to make sure the fiber material inside tape will not be damaged during coiling process. As RTP/TCP pipe normally will be coiled in long length (to save transporation and installation cost), we will make coiler in large diameter.

For example, suitable transformer is required to provide electricity; chiller is needed to provide cooling water; air compressor is necessary to provide compressed air. In addition, mixer, crusher, etc. are used to mix material and recycle scrap material.

Factory Building

According to the machinery information, we will recommend you the space of workshop to install and operate the extrusion machine and its auxiliary machinery. You can calculate the workshop cost based on our information.


We will give recommendation of number and types of workers required to make extrusion machine running. For example, how many operators and ordinary workers.

Raw Material

We will also recommend the spare raw material you need to prepare. Because it is necessary to have some raw material in stock in order to make extrusion machine continuous running and you can have enough time to purchase additional raw material.

RTP/TCP Manufacturing Plant Layout

Our company will provide detailed machine layout. We can also plant layout according to your workshop drawing.

Our layout is customized based on different size of PE pipe machine and customer workshop.
Below is important information which we will show in the plant layout according to you workshop drawing:

Transformer Position

According to your workshop drawing, we will arrange extrusion machine based on the original transformer position. Or if you do not have transformer yet, we will recommend suitable transformer position.

Water Tank Position

Water tank is necessary to provide continuous cooling water to the extrusion machine. We will consider the water tank location to make water circulation smoothly between machine and water tank.

Air Compressor

Usually, we recommend to locate air compressor away from the extrusion machine because of the big noise created by the air compressor during its working. We will allocate the good position of air compressor according to your workshop drawing.


Trench is located beside the extrusion machinery. It has conduit pipe, air pipe , water supply pipe and water drainage pipe inside. You can also choose not to have trench.

Together with plant layout, our company will provide electrical drawing and machine manual.
